Seeing Beyond

The recent software malfunction that resulted in massive delays at Sydney airport and beyond, no doubt brought disappointment and frustration to many travellers.
As I was watching the news coverage of the event, one woman said something to the effect of, "I feel really sorry for the guy who pushed the wrong button." While it doesn't appear to have been the case, I admired her ability to look beyond herself, appreciate the bigger picture and not be reactive in circumstances outside of her control. Whether it's dealing with people in our organisations, confronting challenging obstacles in our paths of progress, navigating relationships or negotiating win-win outcomes - having the ability to see (or question the cause or intent ) beyond our own initial perceptions, inconveniences, impatience and aggravation is wise. What we see with our eyes or hear with our ears may, in fact, be just a minuscule part of the bigger picture. Seeing beyond. It exemplifies kindness, wisdom and astute leadership.View latest blog articles
