Distraction Management
Posted on March 11, 2022
This past week I deleted Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter from my iPhone, leaving them only accessible from my PC. I realised I had succumbed to digital distractions and had fallen for the engagement nudges of these Social Media sites - I needed to wrest back control. I now have no home screen notifications begging my attention and I check the sites only once a day. Unsurprisingly, I haven't missed anything of significance. FREEDOM!!!
Eliminating distractions, or corralling them into blocks of time, is important, especially when it comes to performing projects that require deep concentration or the efficient completion of high-value tasks. It also means we gain headspace to think deeply about things that matter and be more engaged with those we work, live, and play with.
